About Our Online Security Training
Our online security courses are provided through Texas Certified Tactical Academy (TCTA), a Texas-based training provider founded by former U.S. Army combat veterans and experienced security professionals.
With over 30 years of direct private security industry experience, our training is built on real-world knowledge, not theory or aggregated claims. Our instructors have operated within the field, and our courses reflect practical expectations, compliance standards, and industry realities.
No other security training academy in Texas can provide such vast experience directly from the security industry like TCTA without combining non-security experience or combining several members of their staff’s experience to reach that number. Some manipulate the facts, throwing 20+ years of experience around when you find out they are combining two or three instructors’ years of experience to reach that number or adding non-private security experience years to pump it up. TCTA is different and does not play a marketing game with our students to earn their trust.
“I just finished the Level 3 commission officer training today and am so satisfied with how it went that I made my review immediately. I left feeling confident in what I learned and will continue taking classes from them. The environment they provide is professional, entertaining, and full of information that is presented in a way that keeps you interested, so when it comes time to test you are ready.” –Daniel Lambert
A Structured and Legitimate Training Approach
TCTA was established to provide a clear, structured, and compliant path for individuals entering or advancing within the private security industry.
Our online training platform was developed to give students a more efficient way to complete required coursework while maintaining the standards expected by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau.
We do not rely on shortcuts, incomplete instruction, or fragmented training models. Our programs are designed to ensure that students understand what is required and complete their training properly from start to finish.
2025- Now celebrating over 13,000 security officers trained, which has been our honor to do it!
Complete Training Without Gaps
One of the most common issues within the industry is incomplete training delivery.
Some programs advertise full courses but are unable to provide all required components, leaving students to locate additional training providers to finish mandatory portions such as range qualification or weaponless defense.
TCTA does not operate this way.
We provide complete training solutions and clearly identify which portions of a course can be completed online and which must be completed in person. Students are not left to navigate the process on their own after enrollment.
“Wonderful experience, instructor Glenn was spectacular, very informative, & professional. I Drove all the way from San Antonio all 5 days while working before or after class just to receive his phenomenal education for a Level 3 Commissioned Security Officer. Went above & beyond while answering any questions, comments, or concerns we had through the course. Was willing to stay after class to answer anything we weren’t positive about to make sure we weren’t confused about anything we covered in class or could think of. Just the best instructed I’ve had & will be returning for additional courses; recommending to family, friends, & co-workers.”-John Cruz
Commitment to Compliance and Standards
All training is developed in accordance with Texas DPS Private Security Bureau requirements.
We do not issue licenses. We provide the required training and certification that students must submit to the state as part of their licensing process.
Our goal is to ensure that every student completes their training correctly, without confusion, delays, or the need to redo or supplement their coursework elsewhere.
Respect for Employers and Industry Partners
TCTA works with numerous security companies and employers across Texas.
We maintain a strict policy of not recruiting or soliciting students for employment through our training platform. This includes the absence of job postings, external recruiting links, or indirect outreach within our course structure.
This approach is intentional. Employers who send their personnel for training should not have to be concerned about outside recruitment efforts during that process.
A Direct and Professional Training Experience
Our training model is straightforward:
- Clear enrollment process
- Verified student identification
- Structured coursework with defined completion requirements
- Direct guidance on next steps after completion
We do not overcomplicate the process, and we do not misrepresent what is required.
