The purpose of this course is to cover/provide the basic understanding of First Aid /CPR along with covering those very first lifesaving/safety tips, scene and victim assessments, address common injuries, basic medical issues, environmental concerns, breathing problems, responder safety, and CPR administration among other areas. Contrary to many beliefs the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association did not create First Aid or CPR. While both the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association play crucial roles in promoting First Aid and CPR training, they did not invent these practices nor own the rights to them by any means.
Many companies/agencies/schools provide their own version of First Aid and CPR, there is no official registry or official count but by estimates there are hundreds of different online or in person versions to basic First Aid and CPR all over the Internet- all of which are regurgitating known and provided information with updates. No State or Federal Government regulates First Aid/CPR training, and you will find some programs added in extra points / information or emphasize a little more in certain areas than others- perfectly OK to do so. Due to the COVID pandemic of 2020 the American Heart Association and the Red Cross themselves provided an online version (and still do) to their First Aid/ CPR courses for convenience therefore, any other school providing such an online First Aid/ CPR course is following the set industry norms and is not providing any less of a training experience.
Yes, ideally an ‘in-person’ training with an instructor and training aids for 3-4 hours (along with driving to their location) is ideal. However, what we have found is that many security officers are simply not attending First Aid training at all because they cannot find a local class, one that is convenient, and works around their schedule. Because of this, sadly, they simply are not attending any training at all but still actively working in the industry daily at a client’s location (untrained). Should the student wish to go and take additional First Aid classes in person, attend an EMS course, Combat Lifesaver course, or attend medical school, they of course are free to do so for upper level First Aid/Medical training. This class is designed to give the working security officer basic First Aid training quickly while at work or at home.
Course certificates will be provided with each successful completion of the class, then sent via email.
