Online First Aid & CPR Course
Course Overview:
The purpose of this course is to provide a basic understanding of First Aid and CPR while covering the very first lifesaving actions every responder should know. Topics include safety awareness, scene and victim assessments, common injuries, basic medical issues, environmental concerns, breathing problems, responder safety, and CPR administration, among other areas.
Contrary to common belief, the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association did not create First Aid or CPR. While both organizations play important roles in promoting and standardizing training, they do not hold exclusive ownership of these practices.
Across the United States and online, hundreds of schools, agencies, and training providers offer their own First Aid and CPR programs. There is no federal or state regulatory agency governing First Aid/CPR training, and it is perfectly acceptable for programs to emphasize certain areas or add supplemental information. In fact, during the 2020 COVID pandemic, the American Heart Association and Red Cross themselves began offering fully online First Aid/CPR courses for convenience—setting the industry precedent that online learning in this area is valid and practical.
While in-person instruction with an instructor and physical training aids is ideal, many working professionals—especially in the security industry—struggle to find local classes that fit their schedules. As a result, many go untrained entirely, which presents unnecessary safety risks. This online course was developed specifically to meet the needs of working security officers, allowing them to complete foundational First Aid and CPR training conveniently and efficiently from home or on duty.
Those wishing to pursue advanced medical or emergency care training (EMS, Combat Lifesaver, or medical school) are encouraged to do so for higher-level certifications. This course provides the essential groundwork necessary for immediate response readiness.
